Jackets Acquire DiCasmirro From Coyotes For Goertzen

The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired forward Nate DiCasmirro from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for forward Steve Goertzen, Blue Jackets' General Manager Scott Howson announced today. DiCasmirro is assigned to the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus? American Hockey League affiliate. DiCasmirro, 29, is playing in his sixth professional season and has tallied eight goals and five assists for 13 points with 28 penalty minutes in 43 games with the AHL?s Providence Bruins and San Antonio Rampage this season. He has registered 63-108-171 and 171 penalty minutes in 381 career regular season AHL games with six clubs. He has also recorded 9-10-19 and 44 penalty minutes in 57 playoff games. The Atikokan, Ontario native played college hockey for St. Cloud State University in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and collected 51-85-136 and 156 penalty minutes in 147 games in four years. He earned WCHA Second Team All-Star Team honors in 2001-02 after notching 17-33-50 in 41 games.

Leafs Trade Veterans To Penguins, Panthers In Separate Deals

Cliff Fletcher, general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Tuesday that the club has traded defenseman Hal Gill to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for their second-round draft pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft and their fifth-round pick in 2009. In addition, forward Chad Kilger has been traded to the Florida Panthers in exchange for their third-round pick in 2008. Gill, 32, has two goals and 18 assists and 53 minutes in penalties in 63 games this season, his second with the Maple Leafs. Gill signed with Toronto as an unrestricted free agent July 1, 2006. Kilger, 31, has appeared in 53 games for the Maple Leafs in 2007-08 and has 10 goals and seven assists with 18 penalty minutes. Kilger joined the Maple Leafs off waivers from Montreal on March 9, 2004.

Kings Send Stuart To Wings For Draft Picks

The Los Angeles Kings have acquired a second-round draft selection in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft and a fourth-round selection in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for defenseman Brad Stuart, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. In addition, Lombardi announced the Kings have acquired a seventh-round selection in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft from Anaheim in exchange for goaltender Jean-Sebastien Aubin. The Kings now have three selections in the second-round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft in addition to two selections in the first-round and three selections in the third-round. The Aubin trade marks the first-ever trade between the Kings and the Ducks in their 14-year cross-town rivalry. Stuart, 28, played in 63 games with the Kings this season and had 21 points (5-16=21) and 67 penalty minutes. The 6-2, 213-pound native of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, has played in 570 career regular season NHL games with the Kings, Calgary Flames, Boston Bruins and San Jose Sharks, and has recorded 227 points (58-169=227) and 370 penalty minutes. Aubin, 30, played in 19 games with the Kings this season, and had a record of 5-6-1, a goals-against-average of 3.19 and a save-percentage of .886. The 5-11, 180-pound native of Montreal, Quebec, has played in 218 career regular season NHL games with the Kings, Toronto Maple Leafs and Pittsburgh Penguins, and has a record of 80-83-16 with seven shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.93 and a save-percentage of .900.

Lightning Announce Trades With Predators, Ducks

The Tampa Bay Lightning have acquired a seventh-round pick in 2008 from the Nashville Predators in exchange for left wing Jan Hlavac and acquired right wing Brandon Segal and a seventh-round pick in 2008 from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenseman Jay Leach, Executive Vice President and General Manager Jay Feaster announced. Segal has been assigned to Norfolk of the American Hockey League. A 6-foot-2, 210-pound native of North Delta, British Columbia, Segal has five goals and 14 points in 54 games with the Portland Pirates of the AHL this season. A veteran of 313 career AHL games, Segal has 61 goals and 112 points. He has played in 41 career Calder Cup Playoff games with five goals and eight points. He helped the Milwaukee Admirals to the 2006 Calder Cup Finals where they fell in six games.

Ducks Make Trade For Bergeron

The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League club has acquired defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron from the New York Islanders in exchange for a third round selection in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Bergeron, 27 (10/13/80), has played in 46 games with the New York Islanders this season, scoring 9-9=18 points. Eight of his goals this season have come on the power play, tying for first among all NHL defensemen (tied with three players, including Chris Pronger). Bergeron went to the Stanley Cup Final as a member of the 2006 Edmonton Oilers, playing in 75 regular season and 18 playoff games that season.
